AIG - American International Group or Arduous Injunctions Granted
Another wasteful spending company is boldly stepping up to the taxpayers spicket and asking for a bailout. AIG says part of the reason they need this bailout money is to provide bonuses to their top employees and executives so we do not loose them. Whoa… now wait a minute! Wasn’t it the failure of those top employees and top exec’s to the company and their patrons that got them in the financial mess they are in to begin with? They clearly didn’t do such a good job running the ship with all the funds they had, I say let them go.
Why aren’t people asking some very basic questions like; what do we as the American people get form AIG in return for helping them out? I mean the last I checked this was supposed to be a capitalist nation, right??? So we just got mandated to in essence pay for a service, so my question is what do we get in return? Are they going to give us auto insurance with them if we do not have it already? Are they going to set us all up a retirement account? What about the current existing AIG customers, will they see increased benefits, after all they too are tax payers. What about the fact that, according to their website, AIG is in 130 countries and jurisdictions. Are those 130 countries going to contribute to this bailout as well? Are they going to help carry the financial burden? Are they going to toss in $85 billion each? If miracle of miracles for AIG persisted, though it won’t, that means AIG would score $11+ trillion – that would be the greatest shakedown in history.
Unfortunately in the end we are the ones to blame. The politicians we elected did not know how outraged we were about this. The senate and congressional switchboards we not overloaded with calls demanding this measure be overturned immediately. Email servers were not crashed due to the large amount of email letting them know this isn’t right. We all can take comfort knowing that there are AIG execs out there, right now, basking in the sun in a exclusive resort on the beach, getting messages and aroma therapy, while we sit in traffic, wondering how we are going to pay our bills and going to a job that might gives us a logo branded towel for our winter holiday bonus.
